Wiley’s State Bank was founded in 1907. Frederick Esgar and David Esgar represent the second and third generations of Esgar’s that continue to serve the banking needs of the Arkansas Valley and the Front Range by providing the services of a modern financial institution while maintaining the integrity of a community bank where decisions made locally.

The bank thrived through many century mark events that continued to change the economic landscape of commerce in Colorado. Success rested on real values that created strong customer loyalty. Those moral compasses and stable personality values found in the authentic culture of the bank continue to guide how we conduct our banking business today.

In 2004, Andrew Trainor brought the grand vision to the future of The State Bank of Wiley offering up expansion ideas and opportunities to reach more families with the homegrown banking values which were making such a difference in the heart of Southern Colorado. A Branch Charter granted to a different identity and Legacy Bank christened in Pueblo, Colorado.

In 2007, the board of directors expansion vision took Legacy Bank further expanding into Canon City and Pueblo West. July of that year prompted The State Bank of Wiley to adopt the name Legacy Bank after it celebrates 100 years of service. The expansion continued as the bank included its first Colorado Springs location in August of 2007. Legacy Bank then started serving the Colorado Springs community after buying Cheyenne Mountain Bank.

2009 was another banner year of expansion as the FDIC recognized Legacy Bank’s strength amongst an ever-shifting instability in the banking industry. Legacy Bank awarded the acquisition of Southern Colorado National Bank in Pueblo, Colorado. That same year Legacy Bank opened two additional branches in Lamar, Colorado and the north side of Pueblo, University Park.

Today, Legacy Bank supports six communities in Southern Colorado and boasts seven convenient locations to serve their customers that are highly satisfied.
